Hi Guys!!!
it is time for our monthly meeting and the election of officers for 2012. Saturday, February 11th 9:00a.m. at Jacks Restaurant on Moody Parkway . This will be the second saturday of the month. This will be our first meeting that we have had for this year and hopefully have a standing time and place for our meetings until spring and have them at our club . I tried other restaurants and didn’t have a warm reception to this plan. The manager at Jacks welcomed us and offered a ten percent discount . We can have breakfast and coffee and hold a meeting in the warm so thought this would be a fun time and event that all could attend.
It is time for our yearly election of officers and vote in the persons that will be an asset for our club in the upcoming year. Hopefully we have a good turnout and have a say who represents the Bama Flyers club.
We have two entrys for a business card for our club that we can vote on and pass out for prosprective members.
We have been fortunate this year to have had the oppurtunity to still fly in thr winter months. As a matter of fact had a god turnout today and had a great day to fly. I am sure that the flying days are numbered until spring so we are taking advantage of the opportunities.
Hopefully we have a great turnout and have a fun meeting!!

I am proud to say thank you guys for being able to serve you this past year as president of Bama Flyers Club. We have had our last club meeting for the year and will have a meeting and elect club officers for the 2012 year in January to be announced.
Thank each and everyone for making this a great year. We had been invited to Munford Outdoor day and had a good participation at this event. The kids and parents enjoyed our event.
Thanks to Tony’s son in law, we now have a good road to get in and out of our field.
We have been able to increase the interest in our hobby and have increased our membership . And thanks to our many generous members that have donated their time to help many of our new members learn to fly and able to solo and enjoy flying on their own.
This has been a wonderful year and looking forward to an awesome 2012.

I have been contacted again for Bama Flyers to attend the National Get Outdoors Day at Munford ,Al. This is a free event encouraging healthy, active outdoor fun. The forest service would like for us to put on a air show and display some our planes. I had emailed once and only got interest from Jayson about attending if he did not have to work. It is a family affair and has Smokey bear, entertainment, educational exhibits, demonstrations and big slides. I think this would be a good opportunity for us to expose the AMA and have a fun day with our insane sport!!! I have accepted their invitation to help demonstrate our planes. Hopefully a better pilot than me shows up to put on a show. If only me will just display some planes.
This event is Saturday June 11
9:00 am-1:00 (must be there by 8;30 am)
Munford Elementary
365 Cedars Rd.,Munford, Al.
They will provide a booth 14 x 14 sq feet and a chair and table. They will also provide utv with a trailer to transport our airplane to the booth. In case o f rain will move inside.

Friend, long time club supporter, and fellow modeler Vance Mosher has passed away. After a long fight with cancer he had succumb to it weakening him over time. He is survived by his wife, son, granddaughter and many friends.
Vance was a unique individual who had his own vision of the world and tried to share that with others. He had a unique perspective on problem solving and was quite an extraordinary designer in his own right. Vance was never one to shy away from a challenge and solved many hard issues with sheer tenacity. Yet the man was one of the gentlest people I have ever met in his own special way.
Many of you know Vance as the designer he is but he has been modeling most of his life. Vance was always willing to offer help to anyone who ask and generously offered up his lifetime of modeling experience to new guys in our club and was regularly taking someone “under his wing” to mentor and share his knowledge with. While a huge contributor to the hobby, he seldom mentioned his contributions including many, many magazine articles, scale judging, and of course his highly engineered model designs.
One of Vance’s wishes was that his designs would not fade away. Another good friend of Vances, Chuck Graves (of Warbird Colors fame) has taken on the challenge of continuing Vance’s plans business and hope to have things back up 100% soon.
R/C Scale Modeling has lost one of its unsung heroes today in my opinion. I was lucky to have the pleasure to know this man and learn from him. Vance will be missed by many who knew him and we were all luck to know this man that helped to push our hobby so far yet get so little recognition for it.
